Building Futures: Shaping Aspirations in North Devon's Youth

At Horwood and Newton Tracey Primary School, we are deeply committed to the principle of 'Building Futures,' a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. This initiative is not just about education; it's about inspiring the children of North Devon to chase their dreams and achieve their fullest potential. In a world that's constantly evolving, we recognise the importance of future-proofing our students, ensuring they are not only prepared for what's to come but also capable of shaping it.

A Forward-Thinking Approach

Our mission is to cultivate a forward-thinking mindset amongst our students, enabling them to thrive in a global community. We are dedicated to providing an educational experience that goes beyond traditional learning, focusing on real-world applications and personal growth. Our unique 'Big Event' curriculum is designed to offer our students a plethora of first-hand experiences, broadening their horizons and fuelling their aspirations for the future.

Core Components of Our Initiative

Global Awareness: Through our 'Big Event' trips, we aim to expand our pupils' understanding of the diverse world around them, fostering a sense of global citizenship and empathy.

Personal Growth: Our year-group residential visits are more than just trips; they are a journey of self-discovery, helping students to understand themselves, their peers, and the broader European context.

Health & Safety Education: Regular health and safety talks are integrated into our curriculum, equipping our students with the knowledge to stay healthy and safe in various situations.

Comprehensive PSHE Curriculum: We offer a robust Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education programme, emphasising the development of well-rounded individuals.

Transition Support: As our students prepare to transition from KS2, we provide a comprehensive programme to ensure they are ready for the next stage of their academic journey.

Risk Management: Our curriculum includes practical lessons on understanding and managing risk, part of our PSHE and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) programmes, preparing students for the complexities of the real world.

At Horwood and Newton Tracey Primary School, 'Building Futures' is more than just a slogan; it's our commitment to every child who walks through our doors. We are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and dreamers, ensuring they leave us not just with memories but with a foundation that will carry them forward into a bright future.
