About Us

Ethos

At Horwood and Newton Tracey Primary School, we believe in providing a nurturing, high-quality learning experience that inspires every child to be the best they can be. As a small rural school in North Devon, we value knowing each of our children as individuals, fostering their unique talents and creativity while supporting their personal growth and development.

Our broad and balanced curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills. Learning begins within our vibrant local community and expands outward, offering children opportunities to experience the world through exciting residentials, such as a week in London, and through our Big Event curriculum, which includes enriching trips that bring learning to life.

We are proud of our strong links with the local community and our global partnership with a school in southern India. These experiences help our children develop as compassionate, confident global citizens, ready to make a positive impact both locally and internationally.

Our key drivers—Building Learning Power, Building Self-Esteem, Building Communities, and Building Futures—guide our vision. By focusing on these, we help children grow into independent learners who are curious, engaged, and empowered to succeed in life. Together, with the support of our community, we create an inspiring environment where every child can thrive, broaden their horizons, and reach their full potential.
