PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN HORWOOD AND NEWTON TRACEY PRIMARY SCHOOL AND SHRI SHARADA SCHOOL, ANNIGERI, INDIA

Horwood and Newton Tracey Primary School is proud to be part of an exciting international partnership with Shri Sharada School in Annigeri, India, which began 18 months ago. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing a rich, globally informed education that prepares our students to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.

A JOURNEY OF SHARED LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING

Our partnership with Shri Sharada School began with the "All About Me" project, where children from both schools shared insights into their everyday lives, hopes, and dreams for the future. Through a series of online video calls, students exchanged ideas and experiences, culminating in class presentations that highlighted their unique perspectives. This project has allowed our students to understand life in another part of the world, fostering empathy, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for diversity.

Global School Leaders, teachers, and our CEO have engaged in numerous meetings, sharing best practices and creating action plans to enhance learning outcomes for both schools. In August 2024, our CEO visited Shri Sharada School, where he experienced firsthand the school's welcoming culture and commitment to high-quality education.

ABOUT SHRI SHARADA SCHOOL, ANNIGERI

Shri Sharada School in Annigeri is an inspiring institution guided by the vision of "Liberation through knowledge." Under the leadership of Principal Mr. Sudharm Basapur and Educational Adviser Mrs. Grace Noronha, the school is dedicated to creating a child-friendly, healthy, and safe environment that empowers every child. With over 1,000 students, the school takes a holistic approach to education, fostering the mind, body, and spirit through best practices in leadership, governance, and administration.

Shri Sharada School places a strong emphasis on self-development programmes that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and a global perspective, ensuring students are prepared for a rapidly changing world.

STRENGTHENING OUR GLOBAL CONNECTIONS

During the visit to Shri Sharada School, our CEO, Ian Thomas, had the opportunity to meet with the Principal, teachers, and school governors. These discussions explored potential future partnerships and collaborative projects that could benefit both student bodies and provide opportunities for cultural exchange. He also engaged with students, who asked insightful questions and demonstrated their eagerness to learn about life in the UK. Despite facing challenges such as recruiting teaching staff due to its rural setting, the school's vibrant community spirit and dedicated staff shine through, making it an ideal partner for us.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GLOBAL EDUCATION

At Horwood and Newton Tracey, we believe that global learning is essential in helping our pupils make sense of the increasingly globalised, complex, and rapidly changing world. Our "Building Community" curriculum driver nurtures local pride while encouraging a broader global perspective, preparing our students to become informed and active global citizens.

While our roots remain firmly in our local community, surrounded by the natural beauty of Dartmoor and Exmoor, we also strive to broaden our students' horizons. Our partnership with Shri Sharada School reflects our dedication to embracing a global outlook, creating meaningful connections, and equipping our students with the skills and mindset to thrive in a diverse world.

By engaging in these international partnerships, our students learn to think critically about global issues, understand how their actions impact others worldwide, and develop the empathy and understanding needed to be compassionate and responsible citizens. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Shri Sharada School and exploring new opportunities to enrich our students' educational experiences.
